The legion sent many cursed weapons to Azeroth over the years, each tailored to strike at particular powerful factions and people. They even tried to take over the pirates.

Piracy has been around on Azeroth as long as sailing ships, with different factions vying for control over the shipping lanes of the Alliance and Horde. In the southern seas the seas are split between the Bloodsail and the Blackwater. The Blackwater control Booty Bay and generally accept outsiders in, the Bloodsail take quite a long time to befriend.

One thing all pirates have in common is a love of long lost treasure, and the cataclysm’s great upheaval of the sea beds meant it was a great time to go on the hunt. One such wreck emerged on a island some way south of Booty Bay, the Bloodsail got there first, and found a wonder.

The burning legion hasn’t directly attacked Azeroth in full force since the scourge wars, but they have continued to watch and manoeuvre and manipulate to get ready. The Eredar lord Talgath had seen the possibilities of taking control of Azeroth’s seas. While the major factions on Azeroth have powered flight, they still rely heavily on ships for trade and movement of forces. He could cripple Azeroth’s defences with the pirates.

He noted that pirates favour dual cutlasses and duly created the cursed dreadblades: Fate and Fortune. The Bloodsail vessel that found them was lead by Admiral Eliza Goreblade, who claimed the swords. She became very powerful, and very undead.

Siezing the ship for herself she set about attacking other pirate ships, cursing them into undead service for her new fleet. While the alliance and horde fleets were away in Pandaria and later Draenor, the merchant vessels were defenceless against her. She has betrayed the Bloodsail and now attacks her fellow pirates as well.

Demonic blades prey on weaker minds and turn them to serve the legion, but a strong enough mind can control them. Turning the legion’s weapons against them has worked in the past, maybe a brave enough Outlaw can plunder the legion’s armoury.
