The ancient order of monks has been led by the grandmaster at the peak of serenity for millennia. After they sat out the last legion invasion, the legion decided they were going to take part in this one.

A leading monk was called back to the peak of serenity to deal with a legion invasion. The temple was largely filled with student and they were quickly overwhelmed. The monk fought through the demons to rescue as many as they could, but ultimately the grandmaster of the order was slain.

The monks fled to the wandering isle, which had returned to pandaria for the first time in generations, and set up their new base in the temple of five dawns. After obtaining suitable weapons to be the new leader, the monk sets about rebuilding the order. Chen and Li Li Stormstout were the first to answer the call.

During the attack, many monks were led away by Vrykul servants of the legion. They needed to know where, but first they had to check the other temples were safe. Scouts discovered Tian monastery had also been attacked. Lord Taran Zhu of the Shadopan and the monkey king had come to help retake the monastery. They were successful, but not before more prisoners were take. Taran and the king travelled to the wandering isle to join the fight from there.

After gathering supplies for the counterattack, the monks devised a plan to save their students and defeat the leader of the assault, Keletress. The prisoners had all been taken by felskorn Vrykul, so the monks investigated their camp outside the halls of valour. The dwarven monk Angus Ironfist was organising the rescue. Among the prisoners were two highly skilled monks, Sylara Steelsong and Hiro. There was a sea of fel charged vrykul in the way, but a solution was on hand; storm brew.

The storm brew is ancient vrykul ale that can empower the imbiber with the storm. The monk stole some and tore through the legion’s ranks to rescue the others. They needed to find out how to make more of that. They discovered it was made by brewmaster Melba, and set out to find her; unfortunately they were too late. She had been killed and the recipe stolen by a rival, her apprentice Aegira was keen for revenge and happy to help.

Together with Aegira the monk assaulted the tideskorn brewery and reclaimed the recipe. They now knew what they needed, but none of it would be easy to get. The order’s champions gathered water from Freya’s spring in highmountain; a cauldron belonging to Odyn and Fleuris Astraleaf hops from the emerald dream. While they were brewing, a shadow loomed on the horizon. Keletress’ warship was heading for the wandering isle. After some daring last minute brewing the storm brew was ready to go. The monk imbibed and slaughtered the legion’s forces, and with Keletress’s death the assault was stopped. After the victory the monk was name grandmaster.

Later the temple received a supply of storm brew from the stormstout brewery, but brewer Almai who delivered it warned of an attack. Demons had invaded the brewery and the head brewmaster Blanche was nowhere to be seen. The grandmaster and the brewer explored the brewery, eventually finding the brewmaster. She revealed herself as a dreadlord and attacked; on her death they returned to the temple to find everyone poisoned from the storm brew. They gathered a sample of the legion’s poisoned and devised a cure to save the order. Almai then joined the temple.

An elder of the order told the grandmaster the tale of Ban-Lu, the son of Xuen. For centuries he had served the grandmaster of the order, but he had disappeared following the legion assault. The grandmaster headed to the peak of serenity to start the search. After following his tracks with master Bu, the monk aided a grummle with his lost luckydo. They then headed to the shadopan monastery and helped them with a sha attack, and to a jinyu waterspeaker who needed some lilies. After these tasks were complete Bu revealed he was Ban-Lu and duelled him; after the grandmaster defeated him, he continued the tradition to be the master’s mount.

The monks have long defended the people of pandaria and more recently the whole world. Who can argue with a hero that you can drunk with?
