The earthen ring was founded by the tauren long ago to organise the shaman of the tribes, and maintain the balance of the elements. Over time they have expanded to include other races but their mission remains.

Following the loss on the broken shore, the shaman decided to harness the power of the maelstrom. As the elders channelled their power with the aid of a powerful adventurer, the demons attacked; the shaman won the day, but Thrall was left unable to lead the ring. The adventurer took their place and acquired a suitable weapon.

The first farseer of the ring had a vision, following a disaster the earthen ring would unite the elements of Azeroth for the first time since the black empire. The ring decided this was the time to make it happen and performed a ritual to summon Neptulon the Tidehunter. The earthen ring once saved Neptulon from the naga in Vashj’ir, so he was willing to listen. As a show of interest in the new order, he commanded duke Hydraxis to serve the ring. The dwarf Stormcaller Mylra also joined the fight.

The next element they reached out to was that of air, but there is a problem here. Al’akir the windlord had aided Deathwing during the cataclysm and had been slain in his own domain. Skywall had been in civil war ever since, none of the remaining lords were strong enough to take command. The earthen ring had a plan, Thunderaan the windseeker was killed in the mortal plain, with help he could regenerate.

The shaman tracked down the owner of Thunderfury, the blade holding his soul, the owner had been in Azsuna using a level 60 weapon and so they had fallen. The blade was recharged in Skywall and Thunderaan was restored. With the rival lords he took his place as the new windlord and duly agreed to aid the earthen ring against the legion, sending consular Celestos to join the fight alongside farseer Nobundo.

Next came a trip to deepholm to speak with Therazane the Stonemother. The twilight’s hammer had made use of the chaos caused by the legion to invade deepholm again. Therazane demanded the cultists removed from her domain before she would talk. With her realm safe again she agreed to join the fight against the legion, sending Avalanchion the unbroken who joined the fight alongside Muln Earthfury.

Lastly the shaman went to the Firelands, which also was lacking a leader. The firelands was also in a civil war; of the two main contenders, lord Smolderon was most likely to work with mortals so the ring set about helping him. Lord Smolderon demanded his enemy and his enemy’s lieutenants be killed. Firelords need legendaries too so he next required a spear hidden in the firelands to be his symbol of power. Once his terms were met he agreed to join the war, the elements were united once again. Baron Scaldus and Rehgar Earthfury joined the fight to finish the army.

A very unexpected ‘ally’ approached the ring for assistance. Magatha Grimtotem called on the ring to help claim the Doomstone from the legion, a powerful shamanic relic. With her help the farseer invaded their stronghold in the thousand needles and claimed the doomstone. Rather than letting her have it they took it back to the maelstrom. The farseer tried to use the doomstone against the legion on the broken shore, but they could not contain its power. Grimtotem agreed to stay with the ring to protect it.

Thunderaan the windlord called on the farseer to help extended his control of skywall. After helping him get the other lords on board he gives the farseer an elemental to use as their mount. The shaman have always maintained the chaotic balance of the elements, using their wild power to bring bloodlust and heroism to the world.
