While the legion strikes Azeroth head on, the old gods have used the chaos to move in the background. The druids have dealt with their corruption of the dream before, and they were ready.

The tauren archdruid Hamuul Runetotem called a powerful druid to the moonglade for a ritual. Together with the now reformed Naralex and Zen’tabra of the trolls they opened a path through the emerald dream to the dreamgrove. On the way they saw corruption already spreading into the dreamways. After the heroic druid got hold of a suitable weapon, they began to investigate.

A sample of the corruption proved it to be the emerald nightmare, and the druids knew they would have to focus on fighting that over the legion or they could risk losing their power. Naralex and Zen’tabra took their places as champions of nature.

The druids sought out a relic of the stag Malorne in Valsharah. The druid went with Broll Bearmantle to visit his shrine, but they found it already swarming with satyrs. After clearing them out and rescuing the archdruid of the shrine Sylendra Gladesong, they tracked down the idol and took it back to the grove.

They both joined as champions, and then set about gathering the rest of the circle to the dreamgrove. Meanwhile the druid communed with shrine stones that mark the four disciplines of druids. After gathering relics for each aspect they empowered the idol of the wilds to commune with Malorne. They discovered him trapped in the emerald nightmare with other old gods, the corruption driving them mad.

Before they could deal with this however, there was a problem. The nightmare had invaded the dreamway and blocked their path. The druid fought off the corruption and crazed protectors, while the fairie dragon Brightwing saw to the corruption and the dryad mylune stepped in to make sure all the critters were safe. This all done the druids were ready to attack the nightmare directly.

There is one path in the dreamway that had been sealed for millennia, the path that originally led to the Moonglade. The way was sealed because the heart of the nightmare, the rift of aln, lies in the dream where lake Elune’ara sits in the waking world. To reopen the way, a great deal of power is needed. Using shards of nightmare energy and demonic blood they opened the darkened portal.

Inside they found the imprisoned demigods locked in a nightmare version of the war of the ancients, where many of them died thousands of years ago. Choosing a champion o fight with them, the druid entered the fray, rescuing the ancients from their false memories. Finally they defeated the image of Archimonde and saved Malorne. On returning to the dreamgrove Malone blessed the druid and he was named Archdruid of the cenarion circle.

Later word reached the grove of an assault on the shrine of Avianna in Hyjal. The archdruid met with Thisalee Crow to stop the attack and save the shrine, but the legion was pushed away they realised this was a decoy. While the archdruid was here, there was a direct attack on the moonglade to corrupt the demigod Goldrinn. The wolf god had been in a revere since the death of Varian Wrynn, who he thought of as his champion. The archdruid saved the wolf and snapped him back to his senses.

Thisalee and the druid then went to the broken shore to kill the mastermind of the attack, Katithrax and ended that attack. The diversion had left the shrine of Avianna weakened however, and the demons decided to make use of the opportunity. They raided the shrine and stole the idol of Avianna, the link between druids and the demigod. Without it the druids could lose the power of flight.

The druids tracked the demon responsible to Azsuna, and the archdruid led the attack. They defeated the legion’s ground troops, but couldn’t fly up to their ship. Avianna answered their prayers by sending lunarwing owls, allowing them to fly upo and recover the corrupted idol. They took the idol back to the dreamgrove and purified it. Avianna showed her thanks by empowering the archdruid’s flight form into an owl.

Azeroth is in just as much danger from the void as the legion, the druids stand ready to preserve nature and her dream from any comer.
