One of the first people we meet when we invade Argus is high Exarch Turalyon. Everyone on the ship seems to know him, but who is he and why does he have a draenei’s title?
The kingdoms of Azeroth had lost the early stage of the horde war, badly. The people of the northern kingdoms looked to their leaders, royal and religious, for an answer to the horde's dark power. The Archbishop of the light, Alonsus Faol, had an idea. He would combine the holy power of his priesthood with the marshal power of armoured knights to create the paladins.
To establish his order he named 5 priests to be the first knights of the silver hand. Turalyon was among them. Once they were trained they joined the forces defending the capital city of Lordaeron. The leader of the forces was Anduin Lother, he was the last descendant of the Arathi empire’s kings and considered a neutral leader for the disparate kingdoms. Anduin saw his potential and appointed Turalyon his lieutenant.

Anduin’s forces chased the horde’s armies north through Lordaeron towards Silvermoon city, where Turalyon encountered archmage Khadgar and the ranger-general of Silvermoon, Alleria Windrunner. They eventually managed to stop the horde’s assault on the city, but it was a bloodbath. The devastation caused the high elves to join the alliance. During this war Alleria and Turalyon became close and she chose to lead the high elven army in aiding the war effort.
The horde had lost in Silvermoon and a separate invasion on Ironforge. The alliance now had the momentum and stormed the horde stronghold of blackrock spire. The armies clashed in a brutal battle in the searing gorge, soon enough the commanders of each army met. Anduin Lothar and Orgim Doomhammer duelled in the middle of the fray, until with a mighty swing the doomhammer shattered Anduin’s Royal greatsword. The second blow crushed his skull.
The alliance wavered at the death of their leader, but as Doomhammer gloated in his assured victory Turalyon had a revelation. He had had trouble reconciling the uniting power of the light with the orcs, seeing Doomhammer in action gave him clarity that the orcs were demon fuelled invaders and the light surged in him. Wading through the melee Turalyon took up the hilt of the broken sword and rallied the alliance troops to a victory their hero would be proud of.

Turalyon defeated Orgrim in combat and led the charge to crush blackrock spire. With the horde now on the run, they pushed them all the way back to the dark portal, which they then destroyed. They had hoped that would the end of it.
A couple of years later however, the portal reformed and orcs bent on revenge came through. The alliance called on Turalyon to stop the horde threat once and for all. He could see the only way to stop it happening again was to destroy the portal from the other side. His forces, now called the sons of Lothar, invaded Draenor.
They destroyed the portal and set about tracking down the remaining forces of the horde. One final battle at the black temple led the orc Ner’zhul to desperate action; he opened random portals to any worlds he could find. As the world fell apart the sons of Lothar were separated, with Turalyon and Alleria missing when the dust settled.
At some point they encountered the army of the light, and promptly joined them. The royal greatsword was reforged with holy energy and he wields it to this day. As far as the world of Azeroth knew, he was dead. He and the other sons of Lothar were honoured with statues at the gates of Stormwind.

High exarch Turalyon has fought the burning legion with the army of the light ever since the second war. A hero on more worlds than we can name.
