The religions of the races of Azeroth vary widely, but they all call on the same powers of light and shadow. With the coming of the legion it was time for a united reformed church to stand against it.

The conclave was founded by Alonsus Faol, formerly a human priest and founder of the paladins, he was now a free undead who chose to remain devoted to the light. He called upon priests from all over the world, including a heroic adventurer, and hatched a bold plan.

After first helping the hero get a suitable weapon, the conclave made its move. The draenei priest knew of a naaru vessel adrift in the nether that was prison to a darkened naaru. The prophet Velen opened a portal to Netherlight temple and forces from all factions of priest entered the temple. The holy and discipline priests channelled light into the naaru Saara, while the shadow priest drained the void out of her. The naaru was restored to the light, and the conclave established netherlight temple as their base of operations.

The light welcomes all into its fold, no matter their past. Among those loyal to Alonsus Faol was Calia Menethil, sister to the infamous Arthas. In the light she had found a new home after her life as a princess was shattered. Other priests have lost their homes as well; since our campaign in Outland, the ruined land had been evacuated, leaving the Aldor of Shattrath homeless. High priestess Ishanah led her people into conclave.

The heavy fighting was taking its toll on the priests, and some of the shadow priests were beginning to succumb to a dark force in Azsuna. The hero met with the eminent shadow priest Zabra Hexx to investigate. He was delivering medicines to the front lines with shadopan priestess Yalia Sagewhisper when they were attacked by naga and murlocs. A quick bit of mind control soon got them to free her.

With that done they acquired the materials for a vision with prophet Velen and witnessed a coming assault, the dreadlord Balnazzar was going to attack netherlight. There was a path to victory, with some unlikely allies. To prepare for the attack, the priests began to search for clues among the legion’s communication runes. The priestess of moon Delias Moonfang could read the language and spy on the legion’s runes. The conclave also used this time to create lightspawn elementals, including their champion Sol.

The prophet’s vision had mentioned finding allies in old enemies, and the conclave deployed champions to the various enemy factions to find a potential ally. The Scarlet crusade was a shadow of its former self, deluded survivors hiding in new Hearthglen. Many of them doubted their cause now, chief among the Mariella the Heretic. The hero freed her and her followers, who willingly joined the conclave.

The other part of the prophecy claimed ‘the shadows must rise’. The cult of forgotten shadows was once the order of shadow priests, but it fell during the cataclysm. Their leader Natalie Seline’s body was murdered, but she had already hidden her spirit in the shadow lands. The hero rescued her spirit and convinced her order to join the conclave.

The now united forces of the priest began to move against the legion. Delias Moonfang had led a force to Niskara, a legion prison world, and been captured along with some of the paladin order. The priests saved the day and learned the silver hand were after Balnazzar too and were tracking his forces. They decided to stand together and destroy the dreadlord together as he assaulted netherlight. As the temple was inside the nether, the two orders were able to stop him permanently.

As the cult of forgotten shadow came back together, they heard that former leader Aelthalyste was on the broken isles and they reached out to the banshee, after aiding her in treating a plagued ally she joined the conclave. Later Magni, the speaker of Azeroth, visited the conclave. The titan had spoken to Magni of a long lost vault built for the priests of Azeroth. Together they found a way in and discovered the vault was a stable for lightsworn seekers, similar to gryphons but with an owl upper body. The vault was running out of power, so the conclave took the mounts for their safety.

The light and shadow are abstract religions, meaning different things to different people, but in all cases the priesthood are there guide to protect their people.
