The uncrowned are secretive order of assassins, thieves and pirates that have influenced the power of nations across the world. The legion is often an insidious foe, the rogues are more than a match for them.
The uncrowned have a base of operations in Dalaran’s sewers so they were already well placed. They called on a heroic rogue to join them as one of their shadows; leaders of the uncrowned. After acquiring a worthy weapon they raised a glass to the shadows; and were poisoned. Vanessa Vancleef, long thought dead, had come to claim her place as a shadow. The rogue quickly defeats her and she surrenders.
Vanessa is a very capable rogue however and the uncrowned took her back in as a champion. One of the shadows, Garona Halforcen, also took up arms for the covert war. After gathering resources and agents for the cause, a guest appears on the uncrowned’s doorstep. It was the body of SI:7 agent Amber Kearnen, she was holding a missive from the agency.

SI:7 is the alliance’s intelligence agency, led by Master Mathias Shaw. They had been making some strange moves lately so the uncrowned investigated. It appears SI:7 has killed its own agent and attempted to pin it on the uncrowned. Spying on SI:7 led them to Citrine bay in Stormheim where the red blade, a band of murderous pirates, was based. Mathias Shaw had sent the red blade after his own agent. Two more of the shadows, Lord Jorach Ravenholdt and fleet admiral Tethys, took up arms to deal with this mounting threat.
With SI:7 as a clear enemy of the uncrowned, they sought to throw them off the uncrowned’s trail with some false leads across the world. In the meantime the uncrowned were still trying to decrypt the missive agent Kearnen was holding. There was an artefact on the broken isles that could help. The Raven’s Eye had the power to decrypt any code it was used on. It was made by lord Ravencrest in the war of the ancients, and was hidden somewhere in Blackrook hold.
Once they had claimed the eye the uncrowned managed to decode the missive, the missive was proof that Mathias Shaw had been kidnapped and replaced by a legion agent. The uncrowned set about tracking down where he was being held. Valeera Sanguinaar and Marin Noggenfodder (who the hero had aided financially) took up arms in the chase to find him. They eventually trace him to felsoul hold in Suramar.

The last of the shadows, Taoshi of the shadopan, joined the rogue equipped with mantid bombs to create a distraction. The two entered the halls of the eclipse and rescued Shaw, bringing him back to the uncrowned headquarters. Together they hatched a plan to stop the imposter in Stormwind before he did any more damage, sneaking in from the harbour the rogues climbed over the rooftops and through the streets to reach the SI:7 base. There they confronted the imposter, who revealed himself as the dreadlord Detheroc. With Detheroc dead Shaw regained control of the agency and the conflict was ended. Shaw and Taoshi took their places as champions of the order to help take a knife to the legion.
During the broken shore campaign, the shadows stalked a shadowy sect of demons hiding in deadman’s bay in azsuna. Princess Tess Greymane and Lillian Voss were on the case to aid either alliance or horde agents. After planting some false plans and stealing their fel gunpowder, the shadows moved on. They found the demons were planning an attack from within a system of caves, using the gunpowder they blew the leaders up. The agent joined the shadows as a champion.
Later the uncrowned discovered plans to plant assassins in every major city on Azeroth. While the shadow could enter the cities of their enemy and kill people without causing a problem, doing it in their own capitals would raise questions. After killing marks in each of their enemy’s capitals while the rest of the uncrowned picked up the other side. Following the success the shadow was rewarded with the raven mount.

Rogues of the uncrowned work from the shadows, making the changes Azeroth needs without anyone even knowing.
