The council of the black harvest has existed since the second war, teaching warlocks of all factions how to wield the fel safely. When the legion came, they thought they were ready.
As warlocks who fought in pandaria could tell you, the council of 6 warlocks leading the black harvest was short one. Kanrethad Ebonlock lost control of his power and had to be banished in the nether. This left a space, which they filled at the start of the legion campaign with a powerful adventurer. Together they tried to summon a mighty demon to enslave, unfortunately, they’d brought a gnome.
The gnome botched the summoning and one of the most powerful pit lords in existence came through. The gnome was killed and the council were quickly overwhelmed and captured. The sixth awoke on the pit lord’s realm; Dreadscar rift. Using enslave demon on the jailer, they escaped their cage and went to rescue the others. The demon proved too much and the sixth was forced to retreat, but not before they found an ally in the demon Calydus, and information on a new weapon.

With their weapon of choice acquired, the sixth went on the counter-attack. They killed the pit lord Jagganath, and carved out his heart to take command of his forces. The dreadlord Mephistroph they appeared to the sixth, apparently that was his pit lord. Now the lord of Dreadscar rift, the sixth rescued Ritssyn, another of the council, and they set about rebuilding. They soon found which world they were being held on, but getting there was another matter, they would need a master summoner to open the way.
Ritssyn knew of one, Kira Iresoul, but he had betrayed her in the past and was unlikely to work with him again. The sixth went and eventually managed to convince to help in exchange for helping her research into blood stones. Ritssyn and Kira opened the way to Niskara so the sixth could rescue the rest of the council. They managed to rescue two of the remaining council members: Zinnian Smythe and Jubeka Shadowbreaker. The final member had been taken elsewhere.
Shinfel Blightsworn had been taken deep into the nether to be broken by the legion’s finest. In order to bring her back they would need a mountain of soulshards, and an anchor. The minions of the order could get the shards, but the anchor is something special. In order to create a soul anchor, you need something attuned to the person and a vacant soul. They had her staff, and fortunately the legion had stirred up some ghosts in blackrook hold.

They managed to summon her body, but her mind was afflicted by a curse of doom. Using a potion they were able to suppress the curse while they found the source of the curse. Eventually they discovered it was the Eredar twins: Sacrolash and Alythess, who had regenerated in the nether since the Sunwell. To save the Shinfel, they council decided to summon and enslave the Eredar twins. This was no easy task.
After searching for the best summoner in the world, they finally found Lulubelle Fizzlebang, sister of the infamous trifling gnome. Constantly living in the shadow of her brother’s failure she was keen to restore her proud name. With her help they summoned and enslaved the Eredar twins, saving Shinfel. The last job was to complete the six with one final member; the new Netherlord of the six chose either Kira Iresoul or Lulubelle Fizzlebang.

Later, the council discovered that a cult of warlocks was trying to summon Kanrethad Ebonlocke as a powerful demon. The council put a stop to them and drained the fel from Kanrethad to restore his human form; he then joined the black harvest as a member rather than a leader.
Finally the Netherlord needed a mount to match their new position, fortunately the good folks at Xororth’s stables had created an all new mount: the wrathsteed. There was only one so far and it was in possession of the commander of the legion’s cavalry, fel knight Arax’ath. After another lengthy summoning he was killed and the mount claimed.

The warlocks have a bad reputation in the world, between trifling gnomes and demon crazed fanatics. The black harvest has risen to the occasion and showed Azeroth what the fel can do for you.
