The brewmaster’s duty is to travel across the land, searching far and wide for the finest ingredients. The wanderer’s way requires a wanderer’s staff, what better than a titan keeper’s?

When the titans finished shaping the landscape of Azeroth, it was time to start putting some life in the world. The titans themselves are too big to stand on a planet so they built the keepers; living titansteel avatars to enact their will. Keeper Freya was built by the titan Eonar to shape life.

Her first act on the newly shaped world was to create a blueprint; tapping into a spiritual dream already present on Azeroth she created the Emerald Dream. From there she set about creating sources of life, these include Sholazar basin, Ungoro crater and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. The vale was the first and as forests flowed out from the vale she decided she needed a walking stick.

From Fu Zan, the first tree in Pandaria, she fashioned a staff for her travels. As she crossed the lands she found powerful creatures surviving on primal Azeroth and empowered them as the wild gods. The gods were forever connected to the emerald dream and the sources of life she had established.

When her work was finally complete she came back to Pandaria. In this land she had empowered 4 wild gods: the August Celestials. As her travels were at an end she passed on the staff to Yu’lon, the Jade serpent. Yu’lon later passed the staff on to the Hozen leader, the Monkey King, during the time of the Pandaren Empire.

The Monkey King placed his most prized treasures on the staff and took it with him as he helped Emperor Shaohao. Shaohao was the last Emperor, he was alive during the time of the war of the ancients and travelled Pandaria searching for a way to save his empire. Between them they managed to chain most of the evil sha spirits of Pandaria and found a way to protect his realm.

The monkey king was later turned to jade in battle with a mogu army, where he rested until adventurers came to pandaria and freed him. He still wields Fu Zan today, but Hozen are funny little monkeys, and the monkey king loves a riddle. Maybe he can be persuaded to pass the staff on.
