Nythendra

Nythendra was once a member of the Green Dragonflight charged with guarding the world tree, Shaladrassil. When Xavius' corruption of the Nightmare consumed Shaladrassil, it consumed the sleeping guardian as well. Nythendra is now nothing more than a skeletal version of herself, swarming in pestilence, ready to devour anyone or anything foolish enough to enter her lair.

Foolish you say? That's us!

The Kung Foo Monkey Badgers took their first steps into The Emerald Nightmare last night, Intending only to 'dip our toes in' to get a feel for the new raid with our new team.

The night started off like any other... late. Everyone was giddy with excitement and ready to face whatever lie on the other side of that swirling portal which marked the entrance to The Emerald Nightmare, our home for the next 3 hours.

Success comes in many forms and the form we were looking for this night, was teamwork. This raid was a team building exercise more than anything; Jase and Andrea are our new tanking partnership leading us into battle, whilst Alex, Dave and Sir Trevor were working together for the first time as our healing party. DPS are selfish buggers who don't work together anyway, so we ignore them, but the night was all about growing comfortable in these new roles, with new people.

Celegorm registered the first death to trash in record time, however we always take this a good sign, it's like a traditional sacrifice to the Raid Gods who must be obeyed. Following that, the first attempt on Nythendra was upon us.

A cursory glance of the Dungeon Journal gave us all the information we needed and Jase got things started. We were 1/3rd of the way through when we realised our chosen tactic and rot placement was not going to work and attempted to fix it on the fly. Unfortunately, not everyone got the memo and accidental deaths started to happen. Even with only a solitary healer alive, the remaining party of 5 managed to reduce the bosses health by a further 10 percent before finally succumbing to their wounds; a 26% wipe.

The next attempt was more controlled than the previous, the rot placement points were changed and we began with confidence. Unfortunately, a dodgy looking maggot popped up and took out 3 completely oblivious dps members very early on. We'd already decided to write this one off but continued for the practice which alerted us to the issue of the Rot AoE damaging too many player, we had to react faster to getting away from one another.

That second attempt took an early bath at 50%, so we had a quick turnaround to go in for a third.

Third time was the charm it seemed, though not the most clinical of finishes, a win is a win. I went down far too early in the fight, to a maggot... My 3rd maggot death of the night, using up a valuable Battle Res that would be needed later. However, following that we had a pretty uneventful run through to 25% before losing Trevor, who then unfortunately died again instantly following his Reincarnation. With a healer down and the others rapidly running out of mana, it was race to the finish and one that the Brownlee Brothers would've been proud of...

Following the successful kill of Nythendra, we worked our way, slowly, through the trash toward Ursoc, but that's a tale for another day...
